When my oldest son was about to turn two years old, he was diagnosed with type I diabetes. Knowing that I was the perfect person to take care of this sweet baby and no one could really take my place, I quit my job as a registered dietitian and began my real work of being a full-time mother. Four children later, I am more convinced than ever that being a mom is the best experience this life can give.
Teaching children has become my new passion. When we began homeschooling six years ago my husband Brian and I only knew it was right for us. I did not know how to do it. What I once thought would be providing an education to my kids has turned out to be a profound and beautiful learning experience for us all, especially me. We are doing it, one day at a time, together. Here I hope to chronicle the ups and downs of this journey, telling the truth about how hard it can be and how joyful and satisfying it can be as well.
"Children are an heritage of the Lord."(Psalms 127:3.) We love these photos in the alfalfa field. It reminds us that we are led to green pastures. All of our blessings come from Him.
