At the Hill (Day #3)

What a fun day! I was able to show my family the Hill Cumorah where I played the part of Mary, the mother of Jesus, in the Hill Cumorah pageant 19 years ago (I was nearly 19 years old at the time--boy how time flies!)

Zachary saw this Christus statue from the parking area and made a bee line for it. He said he wanted to go in and see Jesus. He walked right up to the statue and touched the nail prints in the feet with reverence and awe. It so much reminded me about the little children in the scriptures and how Jesus wanted the little children to come to him. There is something so special about little children. I am so glad that I witnessed this sacred moment with my little one.
We all made the hike up to the top of the Hill Cumorah. So many memories came back as I watched the cast members scrambling about the hill, going through last minute rehearsals, and just relaxing together as cast teams. I saw the places where we met together, ate together, where we put on our costumes each night. It was so much fun to see it again!

Here we are at the top of the hill overlooking the audience already gathering for tonight's performance.

Zachary loved this statue of Moroni as well.
I had to show Brandon the campground where we stayed for that month that we were in the pageant.
Walking the path with Zach.
Visiting the Martin Harris home.

The Grandin Printing Building where the Book of Mormon was published.

Saying hello to Sister Johnston who is serving a mission here with her husband. They are friends of my parents. It was so fun to see people we knew here.
The kids not only had a lesson in church history; they learned a lot about what it took to make a book back in the 1800s. They were fascinated by everything they saw here.

This afternoon the kids wanted to take a break and swim with their Daddy in the hotel pool. We thought that was a great idea since we will be heading back to the Hill in a little while for the pageant tonight. We can hardly wait!
